No breakthrough on implementation of Minsk agreement

A meeting between foreign ministers of Germany, France, Ukraine and Russia finished without a breakthrough yesterday (29 November). The ministers met in the Belarussian capital to discuss ways of implementing the Minsk ceasefire accords. French Foreign Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault said there was still a long way to go on implementing the Minsk process and Germany’s foreign minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier called on Ukraine and Russia to “show responsibility” and agree on a roadmap. Although Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin called the meeting a step in the right direction, Russian foreign minister Sergei Lavrov confirmed to reporters that the Minsk agreements are stalled and that the four countries are not managing to agree on the sequence of next steps.
